Staff Newsletter – April 2011

The Jakes team say hello in their regular newsletter.

Ciao Bella!

Though we are about as Italian as our Yorkshire homemade scones, we bring service without the pretentious fake smiles, offering the best coffee in Harrogate, fresh milkshakes and a cake selection to ruin any diet. We welcome everyone to bask in the comfort of our three individual rooms, whether it be to sink into our leather sofas with a newspaper in the coffee lounge, enjoy a quick lunch in our spacious Gallery or feast on the glutinous cake selection on the shop floor and gossip the day away, we guarantee you’ll leave happy, fulfilled and feeling a little bit naughty…

Love,
The Front of House team

Hi, I’m Adam, the chef at Jakes.

This is the third newsletter we’ve done and it seems to be working a treat. We’ve got some real mouth watering goodies on this week! The team has been creating the perfect black pudding recipe. So we are looking for honest feedback from the people who matter! The customers! We also have a beautiful salad on this week straight from the back streets of Rome the insalata di strada which, ironically, translates as ‘Italian Street Salad’

Enjoy this beautiful day. Ciao!

Spring is here!

I have started changing the cake ranges from winter to spring, that means more fresh fruit and berries. And I offer a Tiramisu, very well known as a Italian favourite cake. Please enjoy the harmony of fresh mascarpone cheese and slightly bitter coffee flavour.

We are taking bookings for anniversary and birthday cakes – ask your waiter, Noriko the pastry chef, or visit our website: www.jakeanthony.co.uk.

The Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal
As you know, a large Earthquake and Tsunami struck Japan 4 weeks ago. It was beyond anything anyone could expect or imagine – especially as the tsunami was more than 10 metres high. Thousands of people are a now living in evacuation centres, without adequate food or medicine.

The Japanese community of Harrogate will be hosting a charity event on the Stray on Bank Holiday Monday (2nd May). More information can be found at: http://www.thejapaneseshop.co.uk/pages/Ohanami-Cherry-Blossom-Picnic.html

We are also looking for volunteers who can help us with the event.

Thank you very much.

Love, Noriko
